Tri-Center Holds Off Late Rally to Beat Shenandoah, Reach Regional Final –

(10-28-24) – No one can say the Trojans don’t battle.

In another grueling 5-setter, Tri-Center held off a furious comeback from Shenandoah to win 25-17, 25-17, 23-25, 21-25, 15-10 in Class 2A Region 2 semifinals Monday.

Harlie Leaders led the way with 16 kills for the Trojans. She talked about the strategy her team used to get the win.

“When we came to this game, knowing that we're gonna have (the deep part of the court), so we just practiced a lot and we worked really hard. So, I don't know, it's just pretty fun to execute and hitters did great. Passers, setter, all did great.”

The Trojans had three players with double digits kills. Leaders loves how the whole team gets involved in the action.

“It’s just amazing. We know that all of our hitters can put the ball down and they can just swing hard and we're just really smart with the ball, too. I feel like we know when to tip it, when to roll it.”

Lynnae Green had 18 kills for Shenandoah.

Tri-Center will move on to play Eddysville-Blakesburg-Fremont for a spot in the Class 2A State Tournament on Wednesday at ADM High School.
