Tri-Center Routs AHSTW in Road-Home Game, 16-3 -

(6-13-22) – Whether batting first or last, the runs just kept coming.

Forced to play as visitors on their own home field, Tri-Center took advantage of 10 walks, including 6 in the 1st to roll to a 16-3 win over Western Iowa Conference rival AHSTW Monday.

The game was originally scheduled to be played in Avoca, but bad weather that moved through the area last week damaged one of lighting units at AHSTW's field. Since it was their second meeting of the season, the Vikings were allowed to be the home team on the Trojans field.

Jaxon Johnson put an exclamation point on the game with a 3-run blast to left in the 4th to open up a 15-2 lead. Johnson told KNOD Sports he wasn't sure it was going to stay fair.

"I was lucky the wind was going the way it was and pushed it back in and it all worked out in the end, I guess."

Johnson was 2 for 2 with 3 RBI. Teammate Justice Weers was 3 for 3 with 2 RBI. Johnson talked about the leadership Weers brings to the team.

"He's always trying to get us up and get us all happy, ready to play and everything. And he just slugs the ball. He has insane bat speed. It's crazy."

Issac Wohlhuter went 4 & 2/3 innings, striking out 10 to earn his third victory of the season. The three runs he gave up were the first ones he's given up all season.

Nick Denning was 3 for 3 with 2 runs scored for the Vikings while Brayden Lund was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI.

Tri-Center improves to 12-0 on the season while AHSTW falls to 2-9.
