Underwood BB Drubs AHSTW, 19-0 –

(6-15-26) – Terrific pitching overshadowed by an eruption of offense.

That was Underwood’s night as pitcher Blake Brenzel tossed four no-hit innings and allowed just three base runners while the offense ran wild over AHSTW in a 19-0 run-rule win Monday.

Brenzel, who struck out 8 for the 15 batters he faced, talked about his approach on the mound against the Vikings lineup.

“What I was looking for facing these batters was to just get the fastball in the outside corner and really make them try and drive the ball the opposite way and it really just worked out well for me. I was firing fastballs the entire night and just worked well for me. They weren't driving into the opposite field. Only putting in a couple off-speed in there and got the Ks and just worked all well for me.”

Brensel’s teammates picked him by giving him a huge lead to work with in the bottom of the 2nd. The Eagles sent 12 batters to the plate with 8 runs scoring in the inning, started by a 2-run double by Coltin Johnson and capped off by an RBI single from Brensel.

The 3rd inning was even better, with 14 Underwood batters getting at bats and scoring 9 runs. Ryker Adair drove in runs in each of his at bats in the inning.

Having a big lead and knowing the offense can explode at any point allows Brensel to feel comfortable on the mound.

“Makes me really relaxed on the mound. I have nothing to worry about except for just throwing the ball over the plate and guys behind me, they all hit the ball well. They all do their job at the plate.”

Johnson and Adair each drove in 3 runs for the Eagles, who improved to 12-1 on the season.
