Underwood VB Dominates Tri-Center on the Road, 3-1 -

(9-18-25) – The Eagles stepped up their game against a key conference opponent Thursday.

Underwood took it to their Western Iowa Conference rivals, Tri-Center, earning a victory in 4-sets, 25-15, 28-30, 25-14, 25-14.

Kayley Ambrose led the Eagles with 10 kills. Ambrose knows how important it was to get a victory over the Hwy 191 rivals.

“This was so important to us. I think, we came and we wanted it and we got it and this will just keep us and keep us going for the rest of the season.”

Tri-Center put their best foot forward in the 2nd set with an epic rally and winning the set 30-28 on a libero kill by Zoe Payne. Ambrose says her team knew the Trojans wouldn’t just lay down against them.

“We knew they were a scrappy team, so we decided we were coming out and being just as scrappy. We all came together, and I think this was a very good game for us. We showed them what we got.”

Underwood senior Carly Nelson had 9 kills in the victory. Ambrose loves her leadership and has learned a lot from her during her freshman season.

“She's a big role model for me. She's been such a good player for this team. She shows out and it's good to watch her and what she does so I can learn from her and do what she does and keep getting better to be like her.
