West Harrison Outlasts Logan-Magnolia, 11-8 in 8 Innings -

(5-16-23) – A wild, back-and-forth battle took place on the diamond in Logan Tuesday, as Logan-Magnolia would rally from a 3-run deficit in the 7th to send the game into extras, only to fall to West Harrison, 11-8 in 8 innings.

The Hawkeyes Koleson Evans' solo homer to lead off the 7th looked to put the game away, but the Panthers scratched across 3 runs in the bottom of the inning to send it extras tied 6 all.

Koleson Evans had pitched 6 innings of 1 hit ball for West Harrison giving 3 runs total, one earned. Sage Evans tried to nail down the save for the Hawkeyes, but control problems and untimely error allowed the Panthers to plate 3 runners as courtesy runner Will Anderson scored on a Kyle Stueve groundout, a sharp line drive that misplayed by the right field scored pitch hitter Calvin Collins and an RBI ground out by Rex Meeker plated Kaleb Kuhl.

But West Harrison scored 5 times in the top of 8th on a pair of errors, a wild pitch, a balk and an RBI single by Mason McIntosh.

Despite committing 7 errors, Logan-Magnolia made several impressive defensive plays that cut down runners on the basepaths, with Kuhl picking off a runner, catching another stealing, and going home with a comebacker to cut off another potential West Harrison run.

Sage Evans drove in three runs for the Hawkeyes. Wes Vana stole home twice on dropped third strikes for the Panthers.

Logan-Magnolia (0-1) will be Kuemper Catholic on Thursday. West Harrison will be home tonight against Missouri Valley in a game that can be heard on our audio-stream only link at KNOD 2, The Deuce.
