WIC Adds Shenandoah, Red Oak to Conference –

(8-22-25) – The Western Iowa Conference Board of Directors voted Thursday to accept Shenandoah and Red Oak as new members of their conference.

“We're very excited to have Red Oak and Shenandoah join the Western Iowa Conference,” WIC President Andy Irwin. He says the conference was trying to get ahead on the changing landscape of high school conferences.

“We wanted to expand our conference and we wanted to make sure that we were being proactive with, you know, how we were handling some of the shifting of conferences and conference realignment around not only our area but around the state.

“We thought it was best if we started looking into it and looking at who might be a fit for our conference.”

The addition of the two schools comes weeks after IKM-Manning and Audubon voted to leave the conference to play in Rolling Valley Conference.

“As you may know, we had two member schools who have decided to leave the conference. So IKM-Manning and Audubon have voted to leave the conference. We are supportive of this transition of them. We're happy for them and we think this is a decision that is right for their communities and their students. So we want to make sure we support their transition from us to the Rolling Valley.”

The exact time frame for Shenandoah and Red Oak to join the conference has yet to be determined.
