Cyclone Alum, Underwood Boys’ BB Coach Blum Named to BVU Athletics HOF -

(6-5-24) - Harlan Community alum and current Underwood boys’ basketball Coach Brad Blum is being recognized for his prowess on the baseball diamond.

Blum, who's also an assistant coach for the Eagles baseball team, is among a group of six new members who will be inducted into the Buena Vista University Athletic Hall of Fame.

According to information released by Buena Vista University, Blum started all 170 games in which he played and became the first player in program history to reach 200 career hits. The 2011 grad finished his career with 222 hits, a .371 batting average, 176 runs scored, 68 stolen bases and 54 hit-by-pitches.

Blum joins Class of ’87 wrestler Keven Besch, Class of ’92 multi-sport athlete Mike Wilson, Class of ’00 wrestler Rick Schweitzberger, Class of ’02 multi-sport athlete Jennifer (Lange) Mavis, and the 2004 Buena Vista women’s basketball team in this year’s induction class.

The newest members will be enshrined during the BVU Athletics Hall of Fame banquet on Friday, Sept. 27th.
