Mass of Christian Burial for 79 year old Thomas Joseph Schmitz of Harlan will be held on Thursday, February 19th, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Harlan beginning at 11am with burial at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Harlan. Thomas passed away Wednesday, February 11th, at his home west of Harlan.  Survivors include his wife Beverly; daughters, Tamara Lynam and husband Christopher of Overland Park, KS and Becky Schmitz and friend Jonathan Smith of Durham, NC; 1 son, Mark Schmitz and wife Jill of Panama; 4 sisters: Margaret "Peg" Petsche of Portsmouth, Patricia Puckett and husband Fred of Greeley, CO, Lolita Malone of Audubon and Janet Altman and husband Don of Golden, CO and 8 grandchildren.  Visitation will be held 9 to 11 am, Thursday, February 19th at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Harlan.  The Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan is in charge of the arrangements.

Funeral Services for 61 year old Leslie Jill Vonnahme will be held on Thursday, February 19th, at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll beginning at 10:30am with burial in the Carroll City Cemetery. Leslie passed away on Friday, February 13th, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Leslie is survived by her husband Richard “Rick” Vonnahme of Carroll; her step children: Andy Vonnahme (Tonya) of Arthur, IA, Jenny Vonnahme of Carroll; six grandchildren; step son-in-law Garrett Bissen of Glidden, IA; brothers: Terry Jacobsen (Karlene) of Harlan, IA, Matt Jacobsen (Mindy) of Atlantic, IA, and Ron Jacobsen of Atlantic; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Robert Vonnahme (Rita) of Carroll, Marcy Patton of Carroll, Marilyn Miller of Fonda, IA, Ronald Vonnahme (Mary) of Carroll, Mary Hike (Kevin) of Lake City, IA, Marge Mumm (Todd) of Westside, IA, and Darlene Vonnahme of Wall Lake; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held 5pm to 7pm with a prayer service at 7 pm Wednesday, February 18th, at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll where they are in charge of the arrangements.

A Celebration of Life for 68 year old Terry Lynn Munch of Audubon, IA, will be held on Friday, February 20th, at the Exira Event Center from 4pm to 7pm. Private interment will take place at Exira Cemetery. Terry passed away on Tuesday, February 10th, at Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon. Survivors include his mother, Marilyn Munch of Exira; brothers, Jeff Munch and wife Diana, Mitch Munch and Carrin Munch and wife Jill, all of Exira. nieces and nephews and a special Aunt, Carol Sorensen of Independence, MO.  The Schmidt Family Funeral Home of Exira is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation Services for 93 year old Walter Sonksen of Omaha will be held 10am to 12pm on Saturday, February 21st, at the Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Avoca with burial at the Ida Grove Cemetery.  Walter passed away Sunday, February 8th, at the Veteran's Medical Center in Omaha. Survivors include his son Randy Sonksen and wife Donna of Harlan; daughter, Joan Erickson and husband Steve of Sioux Falls, SD, 2 grandsons; 4 great-grandchildren and 4 siblings, Anna, Marvin, Fern and Elmer.  The Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Avoca is in charge of the arrangements.

Funeral Services for 9 year old Colton Wiederin of Carroll will be held 10:30 am, Saturday, February 21st, at the Central Church in Carroll with burial  at the Carroll City Cemetery.  Colton passed away Friday, February 13th at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.  Survivors include his mother, Morgan Cook; father, Joe Cook; siblings, Alyssa Wiederin, Olivia Cook, Conner Cook and Marie Cook.  His maternal grandparents, Shawn and Kimberly Wiederin and Paternal grandparents, Lisa and Hillary Rex.  Visitation will be held 5 to 8 pm, Friday, February 20th at the Central Church in Carroll.  The Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorial Services for 86 year old Walter L. "Lee" Clayton of Oakland will be held 11 am, Saturday, February 21st at the Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home in Council Bluffs with inurnment at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Oakland. Walter passed away at Prairie Gate in Council Bluffs on February 13, 2026.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley; daughters, Pam (Peter) Danker and Kathy (fiancé Joe Whitehill) VanRiper; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home where they are in charge of the arrangements.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for 85 year old Larry Eugene Argotsinger ***AR-gut-sing-ur*** of Council Bluffs will be held 1 pm, Saturday, February 21st at Prairie Gate Senior Living in Council Bluffs.  Larry passed away January 25th at Prairie Gate Retirement Center in Council  Bluffs.  Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Bonnie; his daughter, Denise Williams of LaVista, NE; daughter-in-law, Tammy Lewis and husband Todd of Omaha; 4 grandchildren; sisters: Judy Anderson, Patty McGuire, Debra Fillion and husband Lee, and Diana Lowery and husband Jay; sisters-in-law: Connie Argotsinger, Sandra Kelsey and Janice Walker.  Visitation will follow the Memorial Service until 3 pm.  The Rieken Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.  

A celebration of Life Service for 95 year old Joyce Elaine Spangenberg, of Red Oak, Iowa formerly of Clarinda, Iowa,will be held 11 am, Wednesday, February 25th at the LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery. Joyce passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Arlington Place in Red Oak. Survivors include her children: Barbara Kinard of Papillion, NE and Randy Spangenberg and wife Angie of Harlan, IA; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister: Judy Boeger and husband Ed of Atlantic, IA; brother-in-law: JE Spangenberg and wife Deanna of Stanton, IA; special cousin: Carroll Danbom of Red Oak, IA; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral services. LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
